Hare Krishna camp nr. Swindon august 2003
Organized and run by the Non Sectarian Hare Krishna Movement.

I found out about this camp purely by chance at B.G.G.
Arrived at the site, upon entering the field I noticed that there was
hardly anybody there! though lots of tents, vans, etc. Was then told that
everybody had gone off to the pond for a swim..It was after all the
hottest day in UK history (38degrees).
When they returned, the Hare Krishna singing started almost instantly.
I noticed a certain difference in the singing....very warm and from the
heart.

All the people there were Krishna devotees including the many children
and teenagers, all knew each other, many friendships going back 30
years. I was only one of three Non Krishna devotee there.

I was treated with genuine kindness by everyone through out my 7 day stay.

Evening came and the shout went out for Prasadam ( communal meal offered
to and blessed by Radha and Krishna )
The meal was great as was the company of the many people eating together
on the grass.

There were workshops, talks,Plays, cabaret (featuring amongst others )
   "The Bindu Babas Band

The kitchen was very clean as was the Sauna, shower and toilets.

I talked to many devotees who informed me that the Idea for the camp was
to bring together a Family camp for the Full moon of Balaram (Krishna's
brother) bringing healing to the scattered community and to enjoy
Music,culture,history,tradition in a relaxed atmosphere.

I was impressed by the Friendly and very Sensual atmosphere.
(colours,music,dancing,food,etc.)

It certainly was one of the highlights of last summer for me.
